Smoke DZA, Trademark Da Skydiver & Young Roddy Announce Collaborative Album with Statik Selektah, Release First Single “How Many?”
Three of hip-hop’s most prominent high-rollers – Smoke DZA, Trademark Da Skydiver and Young Roddy – have come together for a joint project entitled The Burn Unit, produced entirely by super-producer Statik Selektah whose long list of credits include Nas, Eminem, 2 Chainz, J. Cole, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, Action Bronson, Jadakiss, and Ab-Soul, just to name a few. Scheduled for a release later this year via Babygrande Records, The Burn Unit is a celebration of the tightly-wrapped union between hip-hop and cannabis culture.
“How Many?” the soulful lead single from The Burn Unit, which premiered via HipHopDX, is a marijuana marathon in itself. Over a melodic sample-driven beat, DZA, Trade and Roddy question how quickly they can burn through pounds of indulgent strains while simultaneously paying homage to their favorite herbal remedy
The Burn Unit is slated to hit stores worldwide via Babygrande Records later this year.

ABOUT TRADEMARK DA SKYDIVER
Trademark Da Skydiver was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. He was introduced to hip-hop when he was eight years old by an older cousin who brought back a variety of music from his travels in the Navy. His cousin exposed him to all types of hip-hop including the Wu-Tang Clan. Two of Trademark’s childhood friends were the rappers Curren$y and Young Roddy. Early on in his career, a mutual friend brought Trademark into a studio session and Curren$y was there. Curren$y got him to appear on a friend’s mixtape and from there, they both realized that their styles meshed well and continued to work in tandem on a variety of projects. Soon after that studio day, they formed Jet Life.
Jet Life grew to include (at different points) Trademark Da Skydiver, Curren$y, Young Roddy, Corner Boy P, T.Y., Fiend, Street Wiz, Marygold, and producers Monsta Beatz. Trademark played a prominent role in the conception and execution of Jet Life’s Jet World Order series which were both released via Jet Life’s partnership with iHipHop Distribution. Throughout the years, Trademark has become renowned for his Super Villain album series alongside his two albums released under his alter-ego Flamingo Barnes. Following a nationwide tour on the Smokers Club, Trademark Da Skydiver released his latest solo album Return of the Super Villain to acclaim in December 2014. In 2016, Trademark joined Young Roddy on the collaborative album Family Business which featured Kevin Gates, Cozz, Smoke DZA, Mick Jenkins, and more.

ABOUT YOUNG RODDY
A New Orleans native, Roddy was an avid basketball player and aspired to play professionally. After Hurricane Katrina, Roddy remained in his hometown though his mother left for Texas. Roddy began to freestyle in ciphers with his friends, but he never looked at rapping as a serious profession. However Roddy’s friends were impressed by his skills, and encouraged him to continue to pursue music. Roddy was eventually goaded into visiting a studio when his cousin told him that Young Money’s artists would be recording in the same space. Roddy would go on to meet Curren$y at that time. After hearing Roddy freestyle, Curren$y asked Roddy to join a new group that he was assembling and the two began to collaborate. Since then, Roddy has released a slew of projects including his Good Sense mixtape series and he has worked with everyone from Styles P to Juvenile. He released his debut album The Kenner Loop in December 2015 via GOOD$ENSE / iHipHop Distribution, and followed up in 2016 with his collaborative album Family Business alongside Trademark Da Skydiver
